A train bridge that serves the Cumbres and Toltec train lines is burning about three miles outside Chama in northern New Mexico.

Chama Mayor Archie Vigil tells a television station the bridge is “burned out.” An inspector is on the way to the scene to see how much damage the fire is causing. There are still a few fire trucks on the scene.

Officials do not know when started the fire.

New Mexico State Police Lt. Eric Garcia said there were aerial fireworks in the area around 9 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses said they heard an “explosion.” About an hour after the trestle was on fire.

How Do I Set Up My Own TV Station?

Posted by admin on June 23rd, 2010 and filed under tv station | 3 Comments »

Im sick of the shit i see daily on TV these days, i want to set up my own station and channel, anyone can tell me how i start?

Over the air TV station.

1. Find a channel that is available in the city where you want to be.
2. Hire a consulting engineer to do the engineering on the channel to make sure you will not interfere with anything already on the air or proposed.
3. Hire a broadcast law firm to file your application. Note that you will have to prove citizenship and financial means to build and operate the station.
4. Be ready for everyone else who wants to start a TV station to also file competing applications.
5. Slug it out legally to win the construction permit instead of all the competing applications. There will also be public hearings in your area where community groups can speak out for or against you being granted a license.
6. Find a location for your transmitter and studio. Be prepared to file an environmental impact study and FAA air traffic study. You may also have to deal with local zoning boards.
7. Purchase equipment and build the station. About $3 million ought to get you started.
8. Purchase programming. Remember that you must have programming that the majority of people want to watch or you will not attract advertisers.
9. Sell advertising to get enough revenue to pay for the programming, utilities, taxes, FCC spectrum fees, staff, insurance, etc.
10. Hope you at least break even. You probably won’t make a profit for the first couple of years so operating the station during that time will come out of your pocket.

The whole process should take from 9 to 24 months.

How can get the audio signal from a tv station on a radio?

Posted by admin on June 20th, 2010 and filed under tv station | 3 Comments »

I wish I could listen to some shows over the radio, when I am not near a tv set. For example, if I don’t have a tv available let’s say I want to listen to the Dr. Phil show, or my local news broadcast. Can I pick up the audio signal from a tv station on a radio? Do I need a special radio?

There are some devices with TV tuners built in that will allow you to listen to the audio of any analog TV broadcast. Of course, the problem there is that analog broadcasting is nearing its end, so these devices won’t pick up TV audio once analog broadcasting ends.

You could look at picking up a Slingbox. If you have a Palm OS or Windows Mobile smartphone, you could use the Slingbox to send your TV audio to your smartphone for you to listen in while on the go. Best part there is that you’re not just limited to broadcast; you could listen to any channels you have at home.

A meteorologist in a TV station is using radar to determine the distance to a cloud. He notes that a time of 0.24 ms elapses between the sending and the return of a radar pulse. How far away is the cloud?

0.24ms times the speed of light

0.24ms = 0.00024

c = 3*10^9m/s

0.00024 * (3*10^9) = 720000

720Km

France bans Hamas TV

Broadcasting regulators in France have ordered a French satellite company to stop carrying al-Aqsa, the Hamas-backed TV station.

French Higher Broadcasting Council (CSA) officials ordered Eutelsat to stop providing services to the channel on account that the network ‘intices hatred’.

However, Hamas officials argue that the ban strongly contradicts the “principles of freedom and justice which France is proud of”.

Al Jazeera’s Estelle Youssouffa reports from Paris, the capital of France.

Drive In primary school in Nairobi’s Ruaraka area is under siege. The city council-run school is now the meeting point for vagabonds who walk in and out at will, thanks to the non existence of a perimeter fence . The school which has been in existence for 24 years is in a derelict condition, and as Martina Akinyi found out, the administration has to chase away drunkards on a daily basis in their battle to keep learning going.
