What protections for children exist with regard 2 television, newspapers and the internet?do the measures work

Posted by admin on June 23rd, 2010 and filed under newspapers | 3 Comments »

I want to know about this in contest with India? How much do parents really make use of the protection measures mae available to them? What are the protection measures available for the children against newspapers?

Parents have avenues available to protect their children from undesirable content regarding tv and internet, for example, stations and websites can be blocked. The kids own sites like Myspace etc can be set to private or limited to friends and family etc. Not much can be done about newspapers (except don’t buy them) – but they’re not usually that offensive.

How can I submit a press release to newspapers?

Posted by admin on June 20th, 2010 and filed under newspapers | 2 Comments »

I wrote a press release for an upcoming service that our company will be offering and have submitted it to online press release websites. Does anyone know how I can get it published in print editions? I am not talking about the Wall Street Journal or anything like it. My question concerns regional newspapers.

Thanks!

Hi,
Hows it going. Sorry i havnt gotten back to you this week from your last email. I am about to reply to it right now. And for the press release info, just google "How to submit a press release" and you will get tons of info. Plus i would contact your local newspapers and get the word straight from them. Is reading newspapers another way to improve your literacy skills?

Posted by admin on June 14th, 2010 and filed under newspapers | 3 Comments »

If you have a hectic schedule and have no time to neither read books nor going to the library?

I have newspapers online, so it is the only way for me to read to improve my literacy but I am just wondering if it will really improve your skills (of course with determination that you will do it to improve your literacy).

Thanks.

Reading anything will – newspapers are a good start for sure.

Michael Moore: Greed Killed the Newspapers

Complete video at: http://fora.tv/2009/09/17/Filmmaker_Michael_Moore_on_Capitalism_A_Love_Story

Documentarian Michael Moore argues that media executives have ‘killed’ newspapers by laying off beat reporters, dumbing down news coverage and endorsing “anti-education” Republican political candidates. “They’ve slit their own throats,” claims Moore. “They’ve eliminated the very people they need to read their paper.”

—–

Who are we and why do we behave the way that we do? Writer, director and producer Michael Moore has been trying to answer that question his entire filmmaking career. His latest film, Capitalism: A Love Story, investigates the powerful forces behind the calamitous predicament in which countless Americans are finding themselves: losing their homes, jobs and savings to foot the bill for past spending.

What is the price that America – and the rest of the world – pays for its love of capitalism?

From Middle America to the halls of power in Washington to the global financial epicenter in Manhattan, Moore takes filmgoers into uncharted territory as he tries to get to the heart of the matter. – Commonwealth Club of California

Michael Moore is an Academy Award-winning American filmmaker, author and liberal political commentator. He is the director and producer of Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, and Sicko, three of the top five highest-grossing documentaries of all time.

In September 2008, he released his first free movie on the Internet, Slacker Uprising, documenting his personal crusade to encourage more Americans to vote in presidential elections. He has also written and starred in the TV shows “TV Nation” and “The Awful Truth.”

Moore is a self-described liberal who has criticized globalization, large corporations, assault weapon ownership, the Iraq War, U.S. President George W. Bush and the American health care system in his written and cinematic works. In 2005, Time magazine named him one of the world’s 100 most influential people.

Also in 2005, Moore started the annual Traverse City Film Festival in Traverse City, Michigan. In 2008, he closed his Manhattan office and moved it to Traverse City, where he is working on his new film.

Is it possible to make logs made out of newspapers and use them to heat your house?

Posted by admin on June 6th, 2010 and filed under newspapers | 4 Comments »

What are the advantages and disadvantages? Is there a tip or technique used to make them burn better? What do you hold the newspapers together with after rolling them? Can you use a current paper or should you wait for the papers to dry for a while? How tight/loose should the rolls be?

Advantage is that the material is already paid for and it gives off just as much heat. If rolled tightly enough, it will burn for 30 or 40 minutes. Most are held together with wire, like the twist ties used with garbage bags. There are some catalogs that have paper rollers for sale that comes with ties. I have one that I bought many years ago (forgot where), and it works just fine. The disadvantages are that it takes about three days worth of the typical daily newspaper to make one log. You also have bits of wire mixed in the ashes.
