PENITAS – Two suspected smugglers accused of running over a border patrol agent with an all terrain vehicle are in federal custody. They were arrested after an all-out manhunt near Penitas last night.
NEWSCHANNEL 5 has learned the agent was walking on a levee, patrolling the area, when he was hit by two smugglers on the ATV. One is an adult, the other a juvenile.

The agent is out of the hospital and recovering.

A border patrol spokesperson says the agent fired his weapon in self-defense after he was run over, but some people in the area say that put them in danger.

The tracks crisscross the area where a border patrol agent was mowed down by the driver of an all terrain vehicle.

Rebecca Craft lives a very short walk away and she saw everything. She was most alarmed when she heard gunfire; she was worried where the shots were being fired and who they could possibly hit. Her husband was also upset.

"My biggest concern was the safety of the community, the resident, the children here," said Hector Leos.

Border Patrol spokesperson John Lopez says agents go through extensive training to use firearms to protect lives. They are trained to shoot directly at the threat and protect innocent people. Often times, they have a split second to make a life or death decision.

What do U think about this latest set of events at the border are people not wanting agents to defend themselves when their lives are in danger ?

I can just imagine you’d be shooting your weapon too.. My biggest concern was the safety of the community, the resident, the children here," said Hector Leos. Indicates they would rather the agents run away … I noticed no one blamed the poor smugglers ,its always somebody elses fault, not the smugglers or drug cartels if they stayed home the agent would not be out there needing to be in a position to fire his weapon.. It seems you want everybody to come and go as they please less than the community being upset.

Well, judging by what those people said, I guess they would not shed one tear if that agent did not fire his gun, but simply let those coyotes run him over and kill him…Maybe border agents should be armed with rocket propelled grenade launchers or bazookas, that way they wont need to be firing so many shots, one good aimed shot-even from prone position-would knock ATV`s and their greasy cargo, all the way to Chihuahua.And border agents might have a fair chance against assault rifle armed coyotes.

I know I’ve been overloading this section with philosophical questions, but they’ve all been answered and y’know my iman is stronger, so here’s another one:

Why make a baby suffer? If it has not reached the age of maturity and will not be judged on its actions, why allow the baby to die/be hurt

For instance I heard a story on a newschannel about a baby who was accidentally (and this was an accident) put into a washing machine. The mother didn’t notice that the kid (about 3 yrs old) had crawled into a pile of clothes which were gonna go into the wash. This kid was playing hide and seek so thought his friends (who were playing with him) had come to find him, so didn’t say anything as he was picked by by his mom in the pile of clothes. An hour later there was blood in the machine and the baby was dead.
The baby will go to jannah. But what is the point in it having to suffer when it doesn’t get ‘officially’ tested until it reaches puberty? And what kind of a test is that? Why do some people die before hitting puberty, esp when this life is a test? What is the point of a child’s life, who dies before puberty anyway?
It is true Gary. Maybe I got the kid’s age wrong coz I can’t remember, but it came on the news (not English news by the way)
I know the story sounds unbelievable, but even in newspapers today, a story came out about a baby who was abused by his mom and seen by social workers about 60 times. They didn’t notice a thing. Sounds believable enough for you? What about the Austrian father who captured his daughter, imprisoned her for a decade or two, raped her countless times and made her pregnant about 6 times. She now has 6 incestuous children. That was pretty unbelievable too.
There are lots of sick people on this planet

Okay first: reaction to the story; when my oldest daughter was 3 years she didn’t fit into a washingmachine let alone she had a weight arround 15 kilogram, too much for a washingmachine. She doesn’t understand hike and seek untill now (she is 4 years. As mother you look which clothes you dump into that machine? A 3 year old is covered up with clothes isn’t invisible… In my eyes, they made this story up, so the mother could continue with zina’… The child was fitnah for her nafs… Even if you had the age wrong, it is still strange and it doesn’t answers my questions it would only make more questions to raise….. I don’t let my children out of side, i must know where and with who are they playing and not to forget with what? After 10 minutes of leaving her alone playing in her room, i must check upon her….. I can’t imagine how one hour can go along, for finding her?

Second; You real question…

Undoubtedly in Allaah’s allowing children to suffer there is great wisdom which may be hidden from some people, thus they object to the Divine decree and the Shaytaan takes advantage of this issue to turn him away from the truth and right guidance.

Among the reasons why Allaah allows children to suffer are the following:

1- It is a means to show that the child is sick or in pain; if it were not for that suffering it would not be known what sickness he is suffering from.

2- The crying that is caused by the pain brings great benefits to the child’s body.

3- Learning lessons: the family of this child may be committing haraam actions or neglecting obligatory duties, but when they see the suffering of their child, that prompts them to give up those haraam actions such as consuming riba, committing zina, not praying or smoking, especially if the child’s suffering is due to an illness that they caused, as happens in the case of some of the haraam things mentioned above.

4- Thinking about the Hereafter, for there is no true happiness and peace except in Paradise; there is no suffering and pain there, only good health, well-being and happiness. And thinking about Hell, for that is the abode of eternal and never-ending pain and suffering. So one will do that which will bring him nearer to Paradise and take him further away from Hell.

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah said:

Then think about the wisdom of Allaah in causing children to cry a lot, and the benefits that that brings to them. The doctors and naturalists have attested to the benefits of that and the wisdom behind it. They said: There is moisture in children’s brains which, if it were to remain in their brains, would cause a great deal of harm. So crying draws that moisture out and drains it from their brains, which makes them stronger and healthier. (# note: the stresslevel decreases because it leaves the body through the eyetears, as i have studied, Allaahu alim)

Moreover, crying and yelling widens the breathing passages and veins, and strengthens them, and it strengthens the nerves.

How greatly do children benefit from the crying and yelling that we hear from them. If this is the wisdom with regard to crying that is caused by pain and the wisdom behind this never crossed your mind, the same applies to the suffering of children and its causes and good consequences. There is a great deal of wisdom that may be hidden from most of the people and they are greatly confused about it.

He also said:

These pains are one of the inherent features of man’s development from which no man or animal can be free. If man were free of pain he would not be a man, rather he would be an angel or some other creature.

Children’s pain is not more difficult than the pain experienced by grownups, but grownups have become accustomed to pain so it is no longer a big issue for them. What a great difference there is between what a child suffers and what a rational adult suffers.

All of that is one of the main aspects of the human condition. If man were not created like that he would be a different creature. What do you think if a child gets hungry or thirsty or cold or tired – is it something that he was singled out for and tested with that the grownups are not tested with? Man – and indeed animals – have been created on this basis.

They said: If someone were to ask: Why has man been created thus? Why was he not created without this vulnerability to pain and suffering?

This is a flawed question, because Allaah has created him in a world of trials from a weak substance. So he is vulnerable to diseases and suffering, and Allaah has created him in such a way that he is vulnerable to all kinds of pain…

The fact that these pains and pleasures coexist is one of the signs of the Hereafter, for divine wisdom has decreed that there should be two abodes: an abode that is devoted fully to pleasure, in which there is no pain at all, and an abode that is devoted fully to pain in which there is no pleasure at all. The former abode is Paradise and the latter abode is Hell.

WESLACO – A U.S. couple says they fled from Mexico and swam across the river for their baby’s sake.

The couple doesn’t want to be identified, because they fear for their lives. They tell us they were working on a ranch in Tampico, Mexico.

The couple claims they found out about their boss’ drug running, and the boss and his wife had been telling everyone on the ranch the U.S. couple were going to sell them their baby.

The couple decided to leave. They grabbed a few belongings and left as soon as the rumors began circulating. They got bus tickets to Reynosa from a Mexican church, but once they ran into a Mexican Immigration Checkpoint, their trip stopped.

The couple was told to hand over all their money, because they were at the checkpoint without proper identification. The couple says they fled the ranch so fast, they didn’t take their IDs with them and they didn’t have any money. They tell us they weren’t able to get past Mexican officials to get to the bridge.

The couple says they decided to find a place at the river to swim across. They waited until night and made a small raft and came across. The next morning, they turned themselves into Border Patrol.

Authorities here verified their citizenship. But now, on her due date, the woman and her husband are at a shelter. They say without IDs it’s hard to find work, so they’re worried about their future. They just hope their baby is born in a safe environment.

NEWSCHANNEL 5 tried confirming the couple’s story with Border Patrol, but a spokesperson told us he could not release information due to privacy concerns. However, the spokesperson did tells us it is illegal, even for a U.S. Citizen, to swim across the river.

Last night we had one in my city for 3 children who are missing and 2 were found in oklahoma, and the spanish girl is still missing.
Lubbock Police have issued an alert for three children.

LaShawnda Annice Theriac, a black female, age 14; Jasmine Nichole Bazan, a Hispanic female, age 11; and Angel Contreras, a Hispanic Male, age 8. The two youngest are siblings, but all three reside in the same apartment.

Lubbock Police say a man who lives at the same apartment complex as the three, was supposed to be taking them to Six Flags over Texas in Arlington along with his son over the weekend. They believe the man left his son in Amarillo and then headed east, spending some time in Arlington. Police believe the man was headed to East Texas or Shreveport, Louisiana, with the children

The Ponderosa Apartments on East 29th Street in Lubbock are the last place where family members saw Theriac, Bazan, and Contreras. That was on Friday, before they left on a trip to Arlington to go to Six Flags with the suspect, Kenneth Michael Wilcox.

Lubbock Police suspect the children are in danger. They couldn’t comment further, but family members say the suspect’s ex-wife told them he can’t be trusted with children. "His ex-wife told us that he’s not supposed to be around little girls," Bazan’s and Contreras’ Aunt Kristal Ortiz said. She tells NewsChannel 11 they never suspected Wilcox to be anything, but a family friend until Sunday evening.

Authorities say they’ve known Wilcox for the past five months, so when he planned a trip to Six Flags with Therica, Bazan, and her brother Contreras, the families let them go. "My sister said he called up there and made the reservations for that right in front of her," Bazan’s and Contrera’s Uncle Mario Ortiz said.

The children left with Wilcox Friday afternoon. Police say Wilcox’s son was also with them at the time. The crew was supposed to return around 5 p.m. Sunday. More than 24-hours later, still no sign. "They’ve called the cell phone. He has it disconnected," Kristal Ortiz said.

Now, police say Wilcox dropped off his son with his ex-wife in Amarillo. "Based upon the information that the detectives have received, up to this point, they do believe that the children are in some degree of danger," Lubbock Police Capt. Greg Stevens said.

"If you all are hearing this, just call collect, let us know what’s going on, just call home. They know the number, that’s how we know something is wrong, because they’re not calling," Kristal Ortiz said.

The person of interest in this case, Kenneth Michael Wilcox, is a white male, 5′5" tall and 150 pounds. He has blue eyes and blonde hair with a gray stripe. He is believed to be possibly driving a 2004 Blue Ford Focus with California tags, 5GTX 090.

UPDATE:
they caught the guy just now in ok. and they found all 3 kids.
The issue is that children are missing, and the guy is traveling across the state, thats the issue!

I think the only reason amber alerts aren’t nation wide because they feel that the kidnapper is still in the same state. so having the whole country on alert would be unnecessary, but I agree they should be to at least the surrounding states.

This woman just married a 1200 lb man. I wonder what kind of marriage they will have? I guess it is true love. I know that if she was that big he wouldn’t have married her. Isn’t it curious what we women will marry? Men somehow get married no matter what condition they are in and women can’t get hitched even while a fraction of the size and healthy. Opinions?

I’d say the man isn’t the only one with a serious problem. I agree with you that it seems that a man can be fat and bald and a woman can still be attracted to him, but can you see a man who is in good health finding a fat bald woman attractive. Does that mean woman take the time to look inside the man and men as just basically shallow?

There has to be something really abnormal about a woman who can look past 1200 pounds of fat laying on a bed all day stuffing his face. Maybe she loves to cook! Maybe she figures when he dies, she will be able to live the life of a rich woman off the money she know longer has to spend on food. Lol
